Salvation is the application of God’s atonement to fallen humans on the basis of each image bearer’s individual faith. The applied atonement eradicates the human’s guilt for sin activity and overcomes the judgment received of separation for sin status. The application is effected through God’s forgiveness and redemption, and it restores the human to the creative purpose of everlasting love relationship with God and the righteous community of fellow faithful image bearers.

Kinship Theology maintains that salvation—the rescue from sin and the sin condition enslaving all humankind—encompasses justification, sanctification, and glorification. The salvation process begins with God’s revelation of who he is and his desire to have love relationship with his created image bearers on the basis of his essence—the source of truth, goodness, and beauty. Sinful humans can offer nothing to merit salvation, but by an individual’s faith/repentance response of spirit to God’s revelation, God applies salvation. God saves by forgiving an individual’s guilt for sin committed and by redeeming the person’s cursed condition.

Kinship Theology is the theological view that, since God, in his essential nature of truth, goodness, and beauty, lives always and only in that one essence by his personal, communal activity of faith, hope, and love, he necessarily interacts with his creation on the basis of love relationship.

The gospel is the good news that Jesus, by the will and direction of God, has purchased the redemption of physical creation, becoming its Lord. Jesus did so by overcoming the sinful dominion of human essence in his own flesh, putting it—along with its curse—to death, and reclaiming through resurrection that flesh sinless and under his own spirit rule as originally created and intended. By doing so, he demonstrated victory over all physical creation, giving him dominion over all, and, thus, making him Lord of all. By his victory, Jesus fulfilled God’s covenant commitment to create for everlasting love relationship with his creation and made possible the resurrection of all image bearers who, through repentance and faith, would seek the same everlasting love relationship with their God.

The atonement is the means of reconciliation of fallen humans—image bearers—to our perfect God for the purpose of everlasting love relationship. The reconciliation is accomplished by the removal of the obstacles to love relationship: (1) individual guilt for actively choosing satisfaction in truth, goodness, and beauty from an assumed source other than God as a result of elevating that chosen relationship over relationship with God and (2) the corporate, enslaving hold of the cursed human-spirit master—humankind’s physical essence. The atonement is accomplished by God’s forgiveness removing both obstacles.

Conditional Immortality (or conditionalism) is the understanding that God will ultimately fully give over to godlessness those who do not give themselves to him (through Christ). The giving over to godlessness leaves the person unable to maintain his or her own existence.
